Dear Yulegoat,

First of all: Thank you so much for writing for me! I'm excited to be doing Yuletide again this year—it was a fabulous experience last year, and I can't wait to see what you write me!

In general, I'm interested in character studies and fics that explore motivations, backstory, and just generally look at what's under the hood. Especially for TV shows and movies, where pretty much everything we get is what we see, I always find it interesting to go deeper into the heads of the characters to examine why they're doing what they're doing, what they think of both other characters and the situations in which they find themselves, and so on and so forth. I also love "after the end" sorts of fics. For a better idea of what I read/like to read, anything on [personal profile] christycorr's pinboard is a good guideline—she's my best friend, and we have very similar reading/fanfiction tastes. My tumblr may also be helpful. (I'd direct you to my pinboard, but it's an epic mess, so really don't go there.)

In terms of specific likes/dislikes re: fanfiction: I read pretty much everything. NC-17 is great, I read more slash than I do het (and would love love love love to see more femmeslash in fandom in general), but I'd prefer that generally triggery stuff—particularly non-con—stay out of the fics I've requested. I adore witty/sarcastic banter/writing, especially when it's full of references to other things I like (again, my tumblr and my Livejournal/Dreamwidth user info pages are good places to go to get an idea of my tastes and fandoms). As I think you can guess from the above paragraph, good characterisation is always something I will love—especially when a fic has strong female characters.

On to the prompts themselves (and, of course, optional details are always optional):

1. Despicable Me
Gru has just about got the hang of this father thing—and then Margo hits dating age and brings home her first boy/girlfriend. Cue him freaking out, hitting up his mum (gasp!) for advice, reading all the parenting books (and thinking they suck), and sending the minions to spy on Margo's dates. Bonus points for a series of short stories about the girls dating over the years, and bonus bonus points for Gru having to figure out The Talk.

I saw this movie for the first time over the summer (I know, I know, I'm late to the party) and thought it was just unbearably adorable. I especially love how, even though Gru struggles with fatherhood, he becomes incredibly protective of the girls, and of course, this led to thoughts of what it would be like to date one of the girls and then be brought home to meet a supervillain. I think there's a lot of room for humor in this, so I'd love to see hijinks and plotting to split up the (possibly) happy couple. Honestly, I just want to see Gru navigating the world of his daughters growing up and being a little less cute and having more adult concerns than, you know, unicorns. *grins*

2. Community
I would love a fic about Dean Craig Pelton's college years, along with some discussion of how it influences his actions as Dean. Bonus points for this happening flashback-style, with cameos from the study group; bonus bonus points for the story of how this ended up with the Dean becoming the Dean of Greendale Community College.

Dean Craig Pelton is probably my favourite character on Community, and you just know that he either had the worst (or the best, though I'm leaning worst) college experience for him to end up trying to create such a sense of school spirit at Greendale. And who wants to become a community college dean, anyway? Also: If coming up with a backstory doesn't speak to you, feel free to come up with something else Dean-centric: there's a new dance! He develops a crush on someone who isn't Jeff Winger! Anything else that strikes your fancy!

3. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
The origin story of Bad Horse, the Thoroughbred of Sin.

I absolutely love Dr. Horrible to pieces, and when I saw that Bad Horse was a character option, I got incredibly excited! Again, I'd love backstory—how did Bad Horse become the Thoroughbred of Sin? How did he end up head of the Evil League of Evil? Did he create the Evil League? How does he communicate? Who's his nemesis? Honestly, anything about Bad Horse would be awesome; go crazy!

4. Matilda
I would love to see something of grown-up Matilda—and especially mother!Matilda, if she ends up having a kid/kids with powers like hers.

Matilda was one of my heroes growing up, and I would love to see anyone's take on the adult she grows up to be—and the kid(s) she ends up raising, especially since she has such good examples of the kind of parent she shouldn't be. How does she handle it if he/she/they end up having powers—either powers like hers or some other kind of power? What if her kid(s) hate(s) reading? What if she has more than one kid, and some have powers and the others don't? Basically, I want kidfic with Matilda as the adult. Bonus points for Miss Honey or any other Wormwood, though that's entirely up to you.

In general: I hope this letter and/or the prompts spark something in you, but if they don't, and some other semi-related idea hits, feel free to go where the muses/bunnies/Yuletide fairies take you! I'll honestly just be glad to get anything. Again, thank you so much for doing this; I'm really excited!
